SPARX- AN ELECS TECH FEST

Now back again as I had promised. Sparx was an IEEE-ISM tech fest held from 13-14 Jan 07 with over 100 participants from various national colleges including BIT Sindri,and NIT Patna. It was a grand event that covered events like Robotics, Digitex, Anatex, MATLAB Programming, Overnite Programming, etc.
The inauguration of the fest was done at GJLT by the honourable Chief Guest in the presence of the director, HOD of Electronics Dept., and the IEEE-ISM Chairman. The first event of the fest in the Robotics arena - The Last Man Standing saw the maximum participation, with a total of 16 teams registering and the event continuing till the evening. Finally, an ISM team won the event with NIT Patna being the runners up.The other events of the day included events like open hardware,anatex,debate,extempore and overnite programming.It was not only about these events but also some entertainment with Rang De Basanti being screened in the LHC.
Day two also saw some very entertaining competition in the robotics arena in the event Srishti. The remaining events of the fest like open software,anatex, paper presentation, and quiz were also held the same day. The fest finally came to an end with a DJnite where everyone had a whale of time. Education-ISM Introduction

ISM or Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in India is well known for it Mining related branches.......It is also considered one of the leading colleges of the world in this field......The students are taken in through IIT-JEE; one of the toughest entrance exams of the world at 10+2 level; and surely the toughest entrance exam of India where lakhs of students compete for a few thousand seats in the 7 IITs, IT-BHU and ISM. IIT requires no introduction and is a brand name in itself. These colleges offer a host of courses and keep on opening new branches according to the needs..... And following the same tradition ISM has also opened a number of branches and Electronics engg was opened in 1998.
Yes by now u must have guessed that I am an electronics engg student at ISM. But contrary to all above facts, the irony is that not too many companies or people know about the other branches of ISM. There are only a few core companies of this branch visiting the campus and the software companies are also not as numerous as you expect in an IIT standard college. While companies are visiting NITs, offering handsome packages, students here have to get satisfied with software.
Isn't it a complete waste of of a huge potential???????

Well I am using this opportunity to popularize these branches of such a reputed institute and I also urge you to do so.....
